Making Money for Impact | New Media Ventures

Client: New Media Ventures (NMV) is a seed fund and network of investors and donors that finance media and technology startups building advocacy movements, creating new narratives and driving civic engagement.

Project Summary + Results: 

NMV sought to leverage their unique expertise and that of their portfolio companies to highlight its leadership position and offer guidance for impact-driven start-ups and organizations, positioning NMV a thought leader in its niche.

Consulting to NMV in the capacity of qualitative researcher content strategist and designer, I delivered the concept, strategy and execution of NMV’s Making Money white paper. The paper outlines approaches to sustainable revenue for impact-driven organizations.

The strategy and design was developed by considering the need of NMV’s target audience and community to have access to innovative, if not well established and documented, ways to sustaining their impact ventures. NMV’s community is host to a wealth of this knowledge, and the paper sought to highlight the on-the-ground experience of its portfolio members and partners in a way that was more digestible, engaging and shareable than traditional white papers. The project scope included industry research, in-depth interviews and surveys across their portfolio of startups, information architecture direction and management of the visual design.
